# Statement descriptor

> Set and edit the statement descriptor customers see on bank statements for Upflow card payments, with Stripe formatting rules to reduce disputes.

It is helpful for your customers to be able to easily understand the charges they see on their bank account. Typically, it helps them confirm those were authorized and avoid accidental [disputes](/en-us/payments/process-online-payments/disputes-and-chargebacks).

What your customers will see displayed for payments collected by you on their bank statements is called your "statement descriptor". You can review & edit it directly from your payment account (Stripe Express) [settings here](https://connect.stripe.com/express_login#settings) in the *public details* section:

Note that your statement descriptor must meet the following requirements:

* latin characters only
* between 5 & 22 characters, inclusive
* at least one letter
* does not contain the following characters: \<, >, , ', ", \*
* reflects your "Doing Business As" (DBA) name
